Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kholmskoe Highway-Tranzitnaya Street

The intersection is located on the highway leading to the entrance to and exit from the city, where congestion was frequent. To exit from Transitnaya Street, traffic had to idle while waiting for the "green light" when Kholmskoye Highway was free.

The inconvenience on the stretch was fixed with the "Smart intersection" system from "SpetsDorProject", as explained in detail by Vasily Vishnevsky, director of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Center for Urban Environment Development:
– “Green" is switched on to the direction that is the busiest. After all cars have left this section, the traffic controller "STREAM" allows traffic in the other direction.
– At night, there is also a traffic calling phase and a 'Roundabout Red' phase for traffic calming, which were described earlier."
